tanya you said it all i lost my five year old son in a drowning incident over ten years ago and in all holidays especialy christmas i think of him and how he would have grown up,i have since than have had other children a little boy and girl my boy has epilepsy and his life is hard for him but me and my wife do all we can to love and protect him life is shorter than you think and it can be taken away at anytime,sometimes some peaple come into your life for a very short time and it is sometimes to show you,i would do anything to bring my son back,sell my soul or anything because i still think of him everyday cherish your kids each and everyday because you dont know what is going to happen your life can change for good or bad within a split second,,

My apologies I thought this was a rewite of an old song I thought I had hear before. My sentiments are still the same. Apply the same passion in our everyday lives for the betterment of all our lives rather than just our own and then this world will never fail and maybe one day no one else will have to right a song like this. The worst thing we can do is do nothing at all. So if the song bothers you this much everytime you have the ability reach out and turn it off at least you’ll be doing something positive for self which will lead you to be in a good mood and maybe do something postive for someone else.

You know its amazing the passion on this page both pro and con. I hope to goodness sake you all put this much passion into your communities. Because at anytime, anywhere you could find your on children in a similar sitauation through no fault of their own or maybe even yours. So when you drive through a down trottened area and see a child wearing tattered and torn clothes, don’t any one of you drive away and go oh I’ve already done my part. Our part never ends as long as we have something to give. That little boy depicted in the song thought not of himself but of someone else which is true of both songs. What makes me happiest is that if the song is so popular that you can’t get away from hearing it the magority of the population must not agree with you that hate it. And believe nobody is paying anyone to play songs that were recorded some sixty years ago.

I had to laugh when I read the looooong description of the song, meant to make haters of the song feel like vile, selfish, loveless little demons. I HATE THE SONG. Just because someone makes up a sentimental story with a moral doesn’t mean I have to like it, and it certainly doesn’t mean I have to like the treacly song written for it. And guess what? I’m a nice person who has volunteered over the holidays, donated to charity, loves her family and stays on this side of the law. AND I STILL HATE THAT SONG.

Tanya, get a life. That is the most horrific, horrible song for Christmas that has ever, ever been produced. It should not be played, performed nor recorded by anyone with a voice. There’s a time and a place for everything and if you want to teach your children a lesson then take them to a local shelter or food bank and introduce them to the people of less fortune that exist rather than extolling the virtues of some damn kid who wants to buy his dead mother shoes to meet Jesus in. Give me a friggin’ break. I’ll take Rudolph, Here Comes Santa, I Saw Mommy, etc. anyday of some pathetic verse of schmaltzy crud. I can feel the Christmas party grinding to a halt and everyone leaving once that sappy, soporiphic piece of cr*p. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

So true, but that is an issue with parenting. I still perfer to look at the good, while also acknowledging the bad. “You can turn the other cheek, just don’t turn the other way.”

I’ll tell you why people must point out the bad in life to show the good :
Because in our day and age people have become selfish, greedy and egotistical. We very much live in a society where ‘It’s all about ME’.
Busy and stressed out by work, heavy schedules, children, our spouses, money problems etc…. we tend to forget the little things.
Many are self-centered on their own problems that they seem to forget that there are others out there who have it way worse than themselves. Somtimes coming to reality and seeing the anguish of others it allows us to see that we’re not that bad off after all.
I’ve raised my children by teaching them to put theirselves in others shoes, to be compassionate, to look at life on the bright side and to realize that no matter how great their problems may be there are always others who have it way worse and in more important ways.
Unfortunately some people need to see the bad in life to be able to see how fortunate they are )

I just want to point out that I’ve not heard all of the lyrics and I’ve only just heard the song, BUT. With out knowing the full back story it’s still a really bad song. I don’t see why poeple must point out the bad in life to show the good.
