Tu B’Shvat (Jewish)
Very similiar to Arbor Day, Tu B’Shvat is a celebration of plants and trees. And it is traditional to eat different types of fruits, nuts, and grains during the holiday, specifically what are refered to as the “Seven Species”
- Wheat
- Barley
- Grapes
- Figs
- Pomegranates
- Olives
- Dates
Also eaten during Tu B’Shvat are fruits and nuts that have hard and inedible exteriors but with a soft edible inside; such as oranges, bananas, walnuts, and pistachios. Also fruits and nuts with a soft exterior and a hard pit inside; such as dates, apricots, olives, and persimmons. And fruit that are eaten whole; such as figs and berries.
