I’m not sure if its the “Irish Eyes” smiling upon us a bit early this year. But a photographer has captured this rainbow that’s not really a rainbow. It is called a circumzenithal arc which appears  when hexagonal ice crystals are formed in the sky. These ice crystals bend the light to form the smiling rainbow. (Notice the colors are actually reversed as compared to a rainbow)

Coming up later this week is the Jewish holiday of Purim.

Purim is the most festive of Jewish holidays, a time of prizes, noisemakers, costumes, and treats. The Festival of Purim commemorates a major victory over oppression and is recounted in the Megillah, the scroll of the story of Esther. Purim takes place on the fourteenth and fifteenth days of Adar, the twelfth month of the Jewish calendar. This year (2007) Purim begins at sundown on the 03rd of March.

Passover begins on the 15th day of the Jewish month of Nissan. As the Jewish day begins at sundown the night before, for the year 2007, the first night of Passover will be April 02nd. The final night of Passover 2007 will be April 10th.
