Holidays on the Net invites you to our holiday celebration - “Passover on the Net.” Please join us as we celebrate the Jewish holiday of Pesach or Passover.

Passover commemorates the freedom and exodus of the Israelites (Jewish slaves) from Egypt and is recounted in the Haggadah, the Book of Exodus. This 8 day holiday is a time of family gatherings, special foods, and lavish meals called Seders.

Visitors will find a site which offers bright and colorful holiday graphics, pages with information about the story of Passover as well as the customs, music and foods of the holiday. Recipes for tasty Passover delights are also available. Send your family and friends holiday greetings with our FREE e-greeting cards. The observance of Passover begins at sundown April 2, 2007.

Palm Sunday (Christian, Orthodox)
As Jesus made his entry into Jerusalem, the crowds lined his path with palm fronds. In churches today, observances include the blessing and distribution of Palm leaves to their congregants.

Today is also the beginning of Holy Week, the countdown to Christ’s crucifixion and his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Note: This years extra palm leaves will be used for the ashes on Ash Wednesday 2008.

About 3000 years ago the Israelites were enslaved by the Egyptians under the rule of the Pharaoh Ramses II. According to the Book of Exodus - Moses, a simple Jewish shepherd, was instructed by G-d to go to the pharaoh and demand the freedom of his people

Moses’ plea of let my people go was ignored. Moses warned the Pharaoh that G-d would send severe punishments to the people of Egypt if the Israelites were not freed. Again the Pharaoh ignored Moses’ request of freedom. In response G-d unleashed a series of 10 terrible plagues on the people of Egypt*

In response to the 10 plaques, the Pharaoh released the Jewish people from slavery.
