I’ve gotta say this is my absolute favorite daily holiday of the year. My admiration for Chicken Boy goes back years and years and years!

And who, or more realistically what, is Chicken Boy you may ask?

Well Shame, shame, shame on you. You cultural Luddite!

The beloved Chicken Boy is a pop cultural icon in Los Angeles. Chicken Boy is a 22-foot-tall statue of a boy with a chicken’s head holding a bucket of chicken.  (and could the folks behind naming September National Chicken Month be trying to catch a free ride on the Chicken Boy gravy train? Me thinks maybe!)

Named for the former restaurant that shared his name, Chicken Boy was rescued from destruction by a local graphic design studio. Chicken Boy is also lovingly referred to as the “Statue of Liberty” of Los Angeles.

Its September and lets celebrate! Here’s a remake of the Earth, Wind and Fire hit “September” by Kirk Franklin featuring Maurice White, of EW&F!

I came across this version last night. Loving it! Perfect timing too! Enjoy.
