Countdown to Mother's Day 2008: Mother's Day Gift Guide For the Mommy To Be

Monday, April 28th, 2008

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, the crunch is on to find the perfect gift. Of course, mom says that all she wants is a homemade card and maybe some breakfast in bed.  But we know that even the most selfless mother (and aren’t they all?!) wants and deserves a little pampering.

If you’re stuck for the perfect gift idea, starting today we’ll be highlighting Mother’s Day gift suggestions. So whether you’re the husband, parent, child or best friend of a new, veteran or expecting mommy, you’ll find the perfect gift (in a variety of price ranges) in our Guide to Mother’s Day Gifts.

For the Mommy To Be
If the expecting mommy in your life tends toward the irreverent, than she’ll love the Ts at Georgie Tees, including “Bigger is Better,” “Does this T-Shirt Make Me Look Fat?” and our personal favorite: “Made It Past Third Base”. Georgie’s short-sleeved Ts are made in Peru from 100% Pima cotton. They have a light stretch, making them perfect for any stage of pregnancy. $32/each.

Every pregnant mama enjoys a little pampering and Mama Mio’s spa gift sets are the perfect solution. Arranged by trimester, the sets range from $35-$65. The third tri package includes our favorite Belly Butter ($9), perfect for those end-of-pregnancy tummy itchies.

Countdown to Mother"s Day 2008: Top 10 Celebrity Moms: #10

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Hollywood moms may be better dressed, have personal trainers and come with an entourage of childcare stuff, they’re no different than you and me when it comes to matters of the heart. And there’s nothing closer to the heart of a mom than her kids.

And in honor of Mother’s Day, join us for a countdown of the Top 10 celebrity moms. We’ll be highlighting 1 mom daily leading up to the big day, and to our #1 Celebrity Mom herself!

A Top Celebrity Mom

Nicole Ritchie
Until 9 months ago, Nicole Ritchie was known for little more than being Paris Hilton’s bosom bud and Lionel Ritchie’s daughter. Then the frighteningly thin 26-year old announced her pregnancy (the baby’s daddy is her fiancé Joel Madden) and in less than a year, Nicole completely reinvented herself as a nurturing mother. Nicole started by gaining a healthy amount of weight during her pregnancy - the first sign that she had learned to put her baby’s needs before her own.

Throughout her pregnancy, Nicole and Joel sponsored a number of fundraising events for low-income mothers and children, and even kicked off their own foundation, the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation. Since the birth of her daughter Harlow in January 2008, Nicole has been nothing but the devoted mother. Sources close to Nicole say that she is breastfeeding, and while it hasn’t been easy, the former Simple Life star is committed to making it work because “that’s what’s best for Harlow.” Way to turn it around, Nicole!

Whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em - today we’re celebrating those ubiquitous corporate caves know as “cubicles.”

One way to celebrate the day - cubicle decorating contests. Wow. What. Fun.
