“The Day the Music Died”
On this day in 1959, rock-and-roll legend Buddy Holly was killed in a plane crash in a cornfield in Iowa. His death was commemorated in the Don McLean song “American Pie” as the “day the music died.”

    Changed music forever. We can only imagine what direction music would have taken had those three not died. The Beatles might still be slogging it out in Liverpool nightclubs looking for that big break.
