    Today is not Johnny Appleseed’s birthday; it is September 26. It is believed that March 11 is the day he died, coinciding with planting time.

    Correction – It is the day Johnny Appleseed died (not his birthday as originally posted). Thanks to those who pointed that out.

    I believe the date of his death was February 18, 1845
