Did you know that having children later in life may help moms to live longer?

The oldest “new” mom on the books is Indian schoolteacher Satyabhama Mahapatra, who gave birth in 2003 at the age of 65 to a baby boy.

Mahapatra just outpaced Italian Rosanna Dalla Corte, who, in 1994, had a baby boy at the age of 63. Both children were conceived through artificial insemination with the eggs of younger relatives.

Mother’s Day is a time of commemoration and celebration for Mom. It is a time of breakfast in bed, family gatherings, and crayon scribbled “I Love You’s.” So join our Mother’s Day festivities as we present a new “Did You Know?” fact each day as we countdown to Mother’s Day on May 10th!

Sarah Jessica Parker
Star of the HBO hit series and movie Sex in the City, entrepreneur of her own line of affordable fashion, wife to Broadway actor Matthew Broderick, and Democrat party activist, Sarah Jessica Parker seemingly does it all. Of course, ask her and she’ll tell you that the most important title she holds is mom to James Wilke. When she’s not building Lego towers or playing Star Wars with her six-year old son, she’s apparently raising him to follow in her footsteps – not as an actor or entrepreneur (at least not yet), but as a political activist.

Sarah had said on The Today Show that James was an ardent supporter of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Of course, James Wilke’s views of the salient issues might still be a bit juvenile. Sarah laughingly explained that her son likes Barack, “because he’s a boy. For him, it’s all about gender identification. James Wilke is a boy and so is Barak Obama.”

Update: Representatives for Sarah Jessica Parker and Mathew Broderick have announced that they will become parents of twins via a surrogate mother this summer.

Cinco De Mayo
Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not a celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day, but rather a celebration of the Mexican defeat over the French in the Battle of Puebla.

But throughout the US, Cinco de Mayo has become a day for partying with plenty of tasty, tasty Mexican food and Margaritas!

One of my personal favorite holidays of the year, I was introduced to Cinco de Mayo while living in Los Angeles many, many moons ago! I’ve had many celebrations and parties for Cinco de Mayo over the years and look forward to a nice jumbo strawberry margarita! Sweeeeeet!!
