Bad Poetry Day
A day for celebrating the dreadful and sappy poetry we’ve encountered thoughout our lives.

“To achieve memorable badness is not so easy. It has to be done innocently, by a poet unaware of his or her defects. The right combination of lofty ambition, humorless self-confidence, and crass incompetence is rare and precious.”*

The Michigan Insane Asylum
Is up on the top of the hill,
And some irresponsible crazies
Meander around there at will,
And they frequently talk to a stranger,
And they sometimes escape, it is true,
But the folks are not all of them crazy
Who hail from Kalamazoo.

  1. Andrew Says:

Bad poetry is simply poetry that doesn’t rhyme. If it doesn’t rhyme, it’s not a poem.

  2. Cela Says:

Bad poetry makes you think, “uuuuuooooohhhh.” It’s what most of us write when we try to write poetry. :-)
