Did you know that there are five days of Diwali, each with its own unique traditions and mythologies?

The third day is the pinnacle of the festival, when families light their oil lamps (divas, diyas) to illuminate the world with knowledge.

Diwali, or the “festival of lights” is celebrated by Hindus across India and the huge Hindu diaspora spread all over the world. This multi-day festival, whose name literally means “row of lighted lamps“, is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm between late October and November. It’s their most important festival on the annual calendar. Join us as we present a new “Did You Know?” fact each day as we countdown to Diwali.

National Go On a Field Trip Month
Ahhh. A field trip! Who can forget the best time of the school year.

Packing a special lunch. The anticipation of the bus ride. The wonderment of climbing off the bus and entering a part of the world you’ve never seen before. And maybe even getting a chance to stand next to that cute girl in the other class. What joy!

But honestly. Did it really matter where we went? I think it was just the fact we were out of school that made the day so special!
