Did You Know? Facts, Figures & Folklore About St. Patrick’s Day March 09 : 08 days till St. Pat’s Day

Did you know that Patrick was neither Irish nor particularly religious, at least not initially?

Patrick was born Maewyn Succat in 385 CE in the Welsh town of Banwen, and for the first sixteen years of his life he was an avowed pagan.

Celebrating the patron saint of Ireland, its said that on St. Patrick’s Day everyone is Irish! The day is celebrated worldwide with shamrocks, parades and green beer!

We’ll be presenting a new “Did You Know?” fun fact each day so join us as we countdown to St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th!

First there was Chastity, Moon Unit, Zowie Bowie and Elijah Blue.

Now we’ve got Suri, Shiloh Nouvel, Apple, Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline! And what about Nick’s kid Kal-el?

However you feel about them, it looks like unique names are here to stay.

So whether you too are visiting from another planet or just interested in the uniqueness of your name, today’s the day to thank your parents for scarring you for life giving you that “sui generis” identity.
