May 15 : 3 days to Shavuot begins

Did you know that the holiday of Shavuot commemorates the giving of the Ten Commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai?

This is the seminal event in the formation of the Jewish people.

Shavuot is the Jewish holiday celebrating the harvest season in Israel. Shavuot also commemorates the anniversary of the giving of the Ten Commandments to Moses and the Israelites at Mount Sinai. We’ll be presenting a new “Did You Know?” fact each day as we countdown to Shavuot* (sundown 05/18).

*Shavuot is pronounced sha-voo-OT.

Armed Forces Day
Pay tribute to the US Armed Forces during this national celebration of our nation’s heroes.

Armed Forces Day, originally Army Day, has been a national holiday declared by Presidential Proclamation since 1936.

*Update: Armed Forces Day is on the 3rd Saturday of May which would have been celebrated on Sat. May 15th not Monday the 17th! Sorry for the mixup.
