Happy Birthday John Lennon

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

Today would have been John Lennon’s 70th birthday. Google has a great “doodle” in honor of John. (Is this the first Google “video” doodle?)

Imagine. Love. Imagine. Peace. Imagine.

Did You Know?
Facts, Figures & Folklore
About Christopher Columbus’
Discovery of the Americas

Oct 09 : 02 days to Columbus Day

Did you know that the Vikings explored the North American coast five centuries before Columbus’ journey?

Ultimately, however, it was Columbus’ expedition that established the permanent intertwining of Europe with the New World, which resulted in the colonization of the Americas.

In 1492 Christopher Columbus left Spain looking to find an alternative route to India. After sighting land, his fleet eventually landed on what is now know as the Bahamas. Columbus Day is a celebration of Columbus’ discovery of the Americas (the New World). Observed as a national holiday in the US and by Italian-Americans as a celebration of their culture and heritage.

Join us as we present a new “Did You Know?” fact each day as we countdown to Columbus Day which is celebrated on Monday October 11th, 2010.
