St. Patrick’s Day
Celebrating the patron saint of Ireland, its said that on St. Patrick’s Day everyone is Irish! The day is celebrated worldwide with parades, green beer and parties!

Kiss Me I’m Irish buttons will be everywhere and wearing the color of the Irish – green – has become ‘de rigeur.’ The color is found everywhere today, with green hair making a big showing, as well as green food – bagels, McDonald’s milk shakes, and of course green beer.

And while some cities paint the traffic stripes of their parade routes green, Chicago will be dying its river green. Savannah GA turns its downtown city fountains green and in Indianapolis the Central Canal will be green.

Did You Know?
Facts, Figures & Folklore About the Jewish Holiday of Purim

Mar 17 : 02 days till Purim

Did you know that Jewish people also have a custom to give friends and family members food baskets specially prepared with at least two different types of ready-to-eat foods?

Known as “Mishloach Manot“, the rationale behind this custom is likely linked to another tradition — having a feast in the late afternoon. The baskets ensure that everyone has enough food to eat at the Purim feast.

The most festive of Jewish holidays, Purim is a time of noisemakers, costumes and tasty treats. The Festival of Purim commemorates a major victory over oppression and is recounted in the Megillah, the scroll of the story of Esther. Purim begins at sundown on Saturday March 19, 2011.

We’ll be presenting a new “Did You Know?” fun fact each day as we countdown to Purim! So stop by again tomorrow.
