Did you know that having children later in life may help moms to live longer?
The oldest “new” mom on the books is Spanish mother Carmen Bousada, who gave birth in 2006 at the age of 67 to twin boys. Unfortunately the twins were orphaned when their mother died at the age of 69, 2 1/2 years after their birth.
In 2003 Indian schoolteacher Satyabhama Mahapatra gave birth at the age of 65 to a baby boy. Mahapatra had outpaced Italian Rosanna Dalla Corte, who, in 1994, had a baby boy at the age of 63. Both children were conceived through artificial insemination with the eggs of younger relatives.
Mother’s Day is a time of commemoration and celebration for Mom. It is a time of breakfast in bed, family gatherings, and crayon scribbled “I Love You’s.” So join our Mother’s Day festivities as we present a new “Did You Know?” fact each day as we countdown to Mother’s Day on May 08, 2011!
